Our Philosophy of Care We at Open Arms find our motivation to care from our deeply held belief in Jesus Christ as revealed in the Scriptures. Jesus commands those who know Him to "love your neighbor as yourself". We believe that all men and women, boys and girls are made in the image of God and must therefore be treated with respect and shown love regardless of their status: Gender, religion, or the lack of one, race, color, disabilities, political views, sexual orientation, marital status, social status etc. are issues that we do not discriminate against in our efforts to care. We affirm the dignity of every human being to food, clothing and shelter, and in particular we are educating ourselves about the targeted populations we are serving to make our care effective, intelligent and lasting. We believe in "mercy" as a primary strategy for reaching all peoples. It is this motivation that defines our engagement and develops our strategic purposes. |
